• International Ataxia Awareness Day (IAAD) is on September 25th of each year. It is a coordinated effort from individuals and Ataxia organizations around the world to help shed light on this rare disease.

The theme of this year’s campaign is Ataxia symptoms. Ataxia can affect anyone, at
any age. It is a degenerative neurological disease that affects a person’s ability to walk, talk, and use
fine motor skills. It impacts every aspect of a person’s life – making simple tasks difficult to complete.

The various ataxia syndromes are still highly disabling pathologies: for this reason, every year there are numerous initiatives at a global level to support medical-scientific research, coordinated by people who live with the disease and teach others about Ataxia.

The first step to deal with this terrible disease is awareness. Some organizations help facing this pathology that affects millions of individuals by raising money for research and others – such as Equistasi – by working constantly on the science to understand and treat the disease.

Equistasi works nonstop next to people who suffer from Ataxia, to understand the disease fight it and treat it. Working together will certainly lead to a cure. Join our community on social media today, use #FightAtaxia.
